Some companies change strategy. This one changes stationery. Incorporated in 1956, it traded as Clariant Chemicals (India) until October 2022, became Heubach Colorants India, and via a postal ballot that closed on 8 December 2025 became Sudarshan Colorants India Limited. The letterhead still carries “formerly known as” in brackets, like a witness protection programme that didn’t fully take.
The quarter to June 2026: revenue ₹222.39 crore, operating profit ₹25.59 crore, net profit ₹20.36 crore, EPS ₹8.82. Against June 2025 that is revenue up 5.5% and profit up 19.1%. Against the March 2026 quarter — where operating profit was ₹4.43 crore, the thinnest print in the ten-quarter series — it is a different animal entirely.
The promoter column also changed. Through September 2025 it read 54.37%, split between Colorants International AG and Ebito Chemiebeteilgungen AG. From December 2025 it reads 70.26%, with Sudarshan Europe B.V. holding 15.89% and a promoter list that now runs to roughly seventy entities, most of them at 0.00%, spanning Thailand, Peru, Turkey, Osaka and a place called VP4 Frankfurt GmbH.
Meanwhile the finance chair has been musical. The CFO resigned effective 9 March 2026; an interim CFO was appointed 11 May 2026. A pigment company that has spent four years renaming itself has, in the same stretch, produced ten quarters of numbers worth reading closely. The March quarter is where it gets interesting.
2 — Introduction
The company manufactures and sells specialty chemicals and has done so under one CIN since 1956. It was described as part of the Clariant group, dealing in organic and inorganic high-performance pigments and pigment preparations, with roughly 2,000-plus products and about ten technical centres. Manufacturing sites are in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
The recent corporate calendar is dense. On 6 November 2025 the company issued a postal ballot notice covering three items: re-appointment of the Managing Director from 25 November 2025, the change of name to Sudarshan, and appointment of Amitabha Mukhopadhyay. The scrutinizer’s report of 8 December 2025 records all three resolutions passed.
On 3 February 2026 the board approved Q3 and nine-month results to 31 December 2025, and the same day disclosed the CFO’s resignation and the appointment of an independent director. Mrs Sudha Navandar (DIN 02804964) was appointed as a Non-Executive and Independent Director (Additional) for a five-year term effective 3 February 2026, with shareholder approval accorded on 9 April 2026 through postal ballot. Also on 3 February the company disclosed an appeal against a GST order dated 29 October 2025 for ₹3,86,50,957 — tax ₹3,51,27,839 and penalty ₹35,23,118.
On 23 March 2026 came a second GST order: a demand of ₹62,06,648 covering April 2024 to March 2025, which the company said it would appeal.
On 11 May 2026 the board approved audited FY26 results, appointed Mr Nilkanth Natu as Chief Financial Officer (Interim), and reappointed PwC as internal auditor.
On 5 August 2026 the board approved the June quarter results and, on the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation, appointed Mr Vijayant as India Legal Head and Senior Management Personnel. He holds a five-year integrated Bachelor of Laws from the University of Pune and has over 18 years in corporate legal affairs, previously with JCB India, Global Indian School Education Services, Quick Heal Technologies and John Deere India. The board met at 4:00 p.m. and finished at 7:30 p.m.

3 — Business Model: WTF Do They Even Do?
They make colour. Not the fun kind you squeeze from a tube — the industrial kind that arrives in drums and ends up in your car bumper, your paint tin, your shampoo bottle and, if the packaging is any good, the label on the shampoo bottle too.
Two verticals. Plastics & Coatings covers pigments, pigment preparations, additives and masterbatches. Specialty Chemicals covers dyestuff, synthetic resins, functional effects and coating, auxiliaries and chemicals. In FY23 the split was Plastics & Coatings at roughly 95% and Specialty Chemicals at roughly 5% — which is less a two-legged business than a business with one leg and a very supportive walking stick.
The product profile runs four ways: organic pigments (colourful compounds from organic sources), inorganic pigments (mineral-based, durable, stable), pigment preparations (pre-blended so the customer doesn’t have to think), and dyes (high solubility, textiles to plastics). The pigment-preparation line is the honest one in the family — it exists purely because somebody down the chain didn’t want to do the mixing themselves, and was willing to pay for the privilege.
End industries read like a census of everything manufactured. Colorants for Special Applications: home and personal care, agro, viscose, latex, leather, stationery. For Coatings: automotive, architectural, wood, glass, POS, industrial. For Printing and NIP: inkjet, SOHO, security inks, packaging, publication, toner. For Plastics: packaging, fibre and filament, footwear, wires and cables, compounding, processors. Security inks and footwear in the same customer list
