The trucking industry’s Great Freight recession has led to dozens of trucking company bankruptcies over the last three years.

The second quarter of 2025 had at least 17 bankruptcy filings alone, Equipment Finance News reported.

But not all distressed trucking companies that closed down also filed for bankruptcy. There are plenty of examples of companies that shut down without filing a bankruptcy petition.
