Taco Bell menu adds Mtn Dew flavors, Street Chalupas, steak items

Taco Bell will add multiple exclusive new Mountain Dew flavors to its menu while bringing back the popular Cheesy Street Chalupas nationwide. The Mexican fast-food chain will also add multiple takes on a $3 Steak Burrito across the entire country.

A Yum Brands (YUM) chain, Taco Bell has always been a beverage pioneer, and it knows what its customers want. It’s adding a number of new menu items and some new soda offerings:

  • Mountain Dew Baja Midnight: Taco Bell is adding what it calls its first-ever permanent flavor expansion of Mountain Dew Baja Blast to its nationwide menu. “Introducing Mountain Dew Baja Midnight: an unexpected purple, passion fruit flavor twist on the iconic tropical lime flavor fans know and love. It’s not just a remix. It’s expanding on the legacy that fans have built for over two decades,” the chain shared.
    • Mountain Dew Baja Blast Midnight permanently joins the menu at $2.49 for a 16 oz., $2.79 for a 20 oz. and $2.99 for a 30 oz. (although prices may vary by location).
  • Mountain Dew Baja Blast Midnight Freeze: For fans who prefer their flavor frozen, Taco Bell’s latest limited-time Freeze offers an icy spin on the experience.
    • This frozen treat joins the menu at $3.79 for a 16 oz. and $3.99 for a 20 oz. Freeze.

Taco Bell Rewards Members can try a medium Mountain Dew Baja Midnight for free when they spend $5 or more in the Taco Bell app on August 15.

Colorful drinks have been a big part of the Taco Bell menu.

Taco Bell menu brings back fan favorite

Nothing ever truly leaves the Taco Bell menu. The chain likes to surprise its fans by bringing back old favorites, and its latest offering is a return people will be happy about.

Cheesy Street Chalupas: An ode to the classic street taco with a cheesy, Chalupa-style twist. Each bundle includes a set of two melty mozzarella and pepper jack cheeses stuffed inside crispy Chalupa shells (inspired by the fan-favorite Quesalupa), loaded with your choice of slow-roasted chicken or grilled marinated steak, topped with fresh onions and zesty cilantro and creamy jalapeno ranch sauce. All for $5.49.

Taco Bell will also add new Steak burritos designed to be a value play:

$3 Grilled Steak Burritos: Taco Bell has continued to make value a priority on its menu with its new $3* Grilled Steak Burritos. Each burrito is “packed with marinated, grilled steak and bold, craveable flavors, offering serious satisfaction at an unbeatable price,” according to the chain. Each burrito is filled with marinated, grilled steak and finished with the flavor profile of your choice:

  • Cheesy Melt: A melty three-cheese blend meets Creamy Jalapeno sauce, reduced-fat sour cream, and seasoned rice for a melty, cheesy indulgent bite.
  • Chipotle Ranch: Creamy Chipotle sauce and Avocado Ranch sauce, crisp lettuce, freshly prepared daily pico de gallo, shredded cheddar cheese, and crunchy fiesta tortilla strips bring the balance for a cool, crunchy, zesty bite.

Taco Bell tests fajitas, value meal

Traditionally, fajitas are assembled by the person eating them. That’s not practical at Taco Bell, so the chain has created its own take on the classic.

“This test is heating up Milwaukee with two new craveable menu items starring boldly seasoned fajita peppers and onions and a brand-new fajita sauce,” according to Taco Bell.

The new fajitas, which have different names, offer a tip of the hat to the classic while being something very different:

  • Fajita Rolled Quesadilla: Filled with your choice of either grilled, marinated steak or slow-roasted chicken, the Fajita Rolled Quesadilla contains boldly seasoned fajita peppers and onions, a new fajita sauce and three-cheese blend before being melted, rolled, and grilled, priced at $4.99.
  • Fajita Street Chalupas: The Fajita Street Chalupas consist of a set of two street-sized Cheesy Street Chalupa shells filled with your choice of either grilled, marinated steak or slow-roasted chicken and topped with a new fajita sauce, boldly seasoned fajita peppers and onions, and cilantro onion blend. Each order comes with two street chalupas, all for $5.99.

The chain is also testing a new value meal in multiple markets.

“The Luxe Value Menu will be continuing to test in select Indianapolis, IN and Dayton, OH locations, bringing bold flavors at unbeatable value to even more fans. With five premium items all priced at $3 or less, this menu proves you don’t have to sacrifice quality for cost,” the chain shared.

The Luxe Value Menu includes the Mini Taco Salad, Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, Salted Caramel Churros, Chips & Nacho Supreme Dip, and Chipotle Ranch Chicken Stacker.

Fans in Dayton and Indianapolis can try these bold innovations right now at select locations while supplies last.
