Pizza Hut menu adds a completely new type of pizza

Yum! Brand’s (YUM) Pizza Hut continues to struggle with mounting challenges, including declining sales, reduced foot traffic, and intense competition, all while navigating the pressures of an uncertain economy.

These blows have taken a toll on its U.S. business, with same-store sales dropping 5% year over year and total system sales down 6% during the second quarter of fiscal 2025.

Pizza Hut fights for market share in a tough economy

Consumers continue to cut back on spending to make their budgets last longer as the economic environment remains uncertain.

According to KPMG’s Consumer Pulse Survey, overall spending has declined year over year, with 69% of consumers now opting to eat more meals at home rather than dining out.

To stay competitive and appeal to budget-conscious diners, Pizza Hut has recently launched several value deals, including:

  • $7 Deal Lover’s Menu: 17 items priced at $7 each when ordering two or more.
  • Pizza Hut Melts: Available for $6.99 each.
  • Large Hut Lover’s Pizzas: Four large pizza options at $12.99 each.
  • Large 3-Topping Pizza Deal: Available for $11.99 each.

Pizza Hut isn’t the only one making this move. Major pizza chains like Domino’s (DMPZF) , Papa Johns (PZZA) , and Little Caesars have also rolled out their own value deals and developed pricing strategies, intensifying the competition.

As Pizza Hut focuses on value and innovation, the next few quarters will be critical in determining whether these efforts can reverse declining sales or be too unsustainable amid rising costs.
