DMK government’s rush to implement welfare schemes before polls reflects its fear of defeat: Nainar Nagenthran

BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) said that the DMK government’s rush to implement various welfare schemes at the end of its tenure reflects its fear of defeat in the 2026 Assembly elections.

Speaking to the media in Chennai, Mr. Nagenthran alleged that murders have become a daily occurence in Tamil Nadu under the DMK rule. According to him, the law and order situation in the State has deteriorated due to the proliferation of liquor and narcotic substances.

Mr. Nagenthran also alleged that the State government had failed to promptly fill vacancies of teachers in government schools and Adi Dravidar welfare schools, and as a result, there was a dip in admissions to government schools this year.

The BJP leader said the party would extend its support to protesting conservancy workers of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) and alleged that since coming to power, the DMK had failed to implement its poll promises.

He also said that the State unit of the BJP has planned to host a series of conferences to strengthen booth committees across Tamil Nadu in the coming days, starting with Tirunelveli.
