Are we looking at the next textile powerhouse or the most ambitious spinning mill in Punjab? Let’s open the cotton bales and find out.

2. Introduction – From Bathinda to Boardroom Bravado

AB Cotspin India Ltd was incorporated in 1997. It manufactures cotton yarn, knitted fabrics, cottonseed oil, oil cakes, and basically everything you can squeeze out of cotton except your emotional baggage.

Its manufacturing unit is in Bathinda, Punjab. It sells to textile players in Punjab and Haryana. That’s the geography. No global domination yet. Just good old North India textile hustle.

Historically, this company was small. Then suddenly in FY23, things got interesting:

  • Authorized share capital increased from ₹11.40 crore to ~₹24.40 crore.
  • Preferential allotment of ₹84.20 crore via fully convertible warrants.
  • Promoter holding jumped sharply in Mar 2025 before settling at 52.5%.

Now in FY26, it announces a ₹1,500 crore expansion plan.

Pause.

For context: FY25 sales were ₹298 crore. TTM sales ₹279 crore. PAT ₹13 crore TTM.

And the company wants to build an expansion 5x its annual revenue.

Confidence level: Punjabi wedding DJ.

But before we judge, let’s understand what they actually do.

3. Business Model – WTF Do They Even Do?

AB Cotspin is vertically integrated in cotton.

Step 1: Buy cotton.
Step 2: Ginning (separate lint from seed).
Step 3: Use lint to make yarn.
Step 4: Use yarn to make knitted fabric.
Step 5: Use seeds to extract oil and cake.
Step 6: Sell everything.

Yarn contributes 76% of FY23 revenue.
