Translation? The market yawned in the short term. Long term investors smiled.

And oh — while reporting profits in single-digit crores quarterly, the company signed a deal to sell Thane land for ₹244.23 Cr. That’s nearly 40% of market cap.

Is this a sleepy alloy manufacturer… or a land-rich industrial ninja?

Let’s melt the metal and see.

2. Introduction – The Alloy You Didn’t Notice

Founded in 1972, Uni Abex is part of the Neterwala Group. Not flashy. Not on TV. Not trending on finance Twitter.

But it manufactures centrifugal and static castings in heat and corrosion resistant stainless steel alloys — critical components for steel plants, petroleum refineries, fertilizers, petrochemicals and process industries.

Basically, when furnaces run at hell-like temperatures, someone has to supply the tubes and rolls that don’t melt.

That someone is Uni Abex.

The company is ISO certified, an MSME registered unit, and even a “One Star Export House.” Exports contribute ~29%, domestic ~71% (FY23).

It has:

  • Melting capacity ~6,000 MT
  • Finished casting capacity ~2,250 MT per annum

This is not a volume steel play. It is niche metallurgy.

And niche businesses, when executed properly, quietly generate obscene returns.

Question for you: would you rather own a commodity steel player or a high-margin specialty alloy supplier with 30%+ ROCE?

Let’s dig.

3. Business Model – WTF Do They Even Do?

Imagine a steel plant running at 1,000+ degrees Celsius.

Inside those furnaces are reformer tubes, radiant coils, decanter bowls, furnace rolls, stabilizer rolls, sink rolls, catalyst tubes… and 50 other intimidating names.

Uni Abex manufactures these.

They operate in three segments:

1️ Vertical Centrifugal Castings

  • Decanter bowls
  • Bowl cones
  • Fully machined parts
  • Conical casting with top diameter 1200 mm
  • Manufactures the tallest
